Q: Why do I have to enter my credit card information each time I place an order?
A: For your privacy and safety, we do not collect or store any credit card information you provide. Your card is preauthorized by PayPal, our merchant account processor, and CIS is sent a unique transaction ID number upon preapproval of the charges. When we ship your order, we charge your credit card using only this unique ID number. While the amount preauthorized will be "locked" for 3-5 days, no money is collected by CIS until your order is shipped.
Q: Is your site open to the public?
A: CIS is a wholesaler/distributor and only sells to businesses.
Q: Can I add another user to my account? If so, how do I do this?
A: You can add as many user names and passwords to your account as you wish. Currently you must call or email us with your request.
However we are currently working on enhancements to our website that will allow you to manage this on your own. We will make this functionality available as soon as it is complete and fully tested.
Q: Does the C.I.T.S. come fully stocked?
A: Yes. The C.I.T.S. does come stocked with a comprehensive mix of the parts and supplies that installers are using daily. It also includes some “Save Your Butt” parts that may not be used everyday, but if caught without and needed, can cost a company quite a bit of money in lost wages, lost revenue and the cost of buying overpriced parts at big box stores. The idea behind the C.I.T.S. contents was not just thrown together over a weekend. It entailed years of careful consideration in putting together a parts list that includes stuff that installers need and not the things that they don’t.
Q: Can the C.I.T.S. save my company time?
A: Yes. Think about this, most custom install companies currently have no reordering procedures in place. Typically the installers are taking a pen and paper and writing down the parts that they need. Others are going by their memory. Both of these can easily lead to inaccuracies in parts ordering. The user then has to manually input the order into the vender site and also in their accounting system. This whole process can take hours each week. Now imagine this, the installer uses their scanner to scan needed parts from the C.I.T.S. The scanner is docked and the information is uploaded to the Custom Order Application. The user can then make changes to the order, to job names and installer names. When this is done the user clicks submit to place their order and can generate the accounting interface. With the C.I.T.S. this whole process takes minutes, not hours. Another time saver is the ability to bring the entire C.I.T.S. or the needed organizers into the job, therefore cutting back on the numerous trips to the van, the shop or even places like Radio Shack or Home Depot
Q: Do I have to invest in the entire standard C.I.T.S. inventory?
A: No. Even though we feel that the C.I.T.S. parts list includes both everyday items and also the “Save Your Butt” parts, we also understand that there may be parts and supplies that you already have or will never use. For these cases we have no problem making changes to the parts list and adjusting the C.I.T.S. price accordingly. So we are open to make changes to the parts list based on your companies’ needs and preferences.
Q: After I invest in the C.I.T.S. and continue to get parts and supplies from Custom Install Supply will I realize that your prices are high or will you raise them in the immediate future?
A: No and no. The parts and supplies on our distribution site are now and always will be competitive to all other companies out there. On all parts we are priced competitively and on most are priced better.
Q: Can the barcode scanner on the C.I.T.S. be used for products that I do not get from Custom Install Supply?
A: Yes. Custom Install Supply is currently developing their software called CIS Utils that will give you this option. The software is slated for distribution in the 4th quarter of 2008. Additional fees will apply for the use of this software.
Q: Do I need to get the C.I.T.S. in order to take advantage of Custom Install Supplies parts distribution site?
A: No. Custom Install Supply is first and foremost a distribution company that offers a comprehensive list of products at competitive pricing and with unheard of customer service. We feel that the C.I.T.S. is a solution that could and should be used by all Custom Install companies out there, but we also understand that some companies may already have a system in place or may not be able to invest in the C.I.T.S. at this time.
